You can use any resolution: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 or higher. A slide show in EXE file uses the currently set display mode. All elements of a slide scale are visible automatically and proportionally at any display mode.
Will PicturesToExe create presentations that can be viewed on Apple Macintosh computers (Mac OS X)?
You can't run EXE file with a slide show on MacOS, but you can burn a DVD-Video disc in PicturesToExe Deluxe and add EXE files of the slide shows. Thus, the DVD-disc will play with highest quality on a PC (as an EXE file) and as a DVD-Video on Mac computer.

Yes, of course!

PicturesToExe v4.48 had the transition from/to desktop effect. I can’t find this effect in PicturesToExe 5. Why?
We removed "Show transition effect from/to desktop" options in the new version of PicturesToExe for two reasons:
This effect doesn't work correctly under Windows Vista due to an error in Windows Vista. Slide shows created in v4.48, in which this option is used, will work as though they are created without these options.
There is a problem even with Windows XP. Since version 5.0 we have used a fullscreen hardware accelerated display mode (for maximally smooth playback of Pan/Zoom effects) and this option could work incorrectly on some video cards.
Those are the reasons why we decided to remove this option.
Where can I download the examples of slide shows created with PicturesToExe?
You can find our slide shows at http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/slideshows.htm and a lot of slide shows created by users of PicturesToExe at http://www.beechbrook.com/pte.
